As Simeon says, there are also many new sounds. In my opinion the advertising is a bit misleading since Sampletank 4 MAX is a combination of all sounds. If I had bought the older versions I think I would feel the same way in wondering how much of the content was new.
#KONTAKT VS SAMPLETANK FREE#
I didn't have the older Sampletank sounds other than a few of the free paks, so in my case it was all new. So, am I getting sample tank 2 and 3 with a better interface it did they use new samples and just used the same presets? That's my question and decision if I'm but it or not. However, sample tank 3 was good not great (except their pianos) but I hated the interface. I never was a fan of sample tank 2 sounds.
#KONTAKT VS SAMPLETANK PDF#
Now, my issue is as I was almost about to buy I went to the pdf file on their site and it seems the massive library of sounds is majority made up up of sampletank 3 and 2 sounds just repacked regurgitated and shipped out. Those two I guess are the big three as I tried expand and those sounds were not that great just okay, kinda like buying a Casio work station and I have the Triton and Korg m1 and the Roland's jv and expansions. I looked at Vir V.I One but I want to shedding not in kontakt form as it's a big clunky. More when I need, but i come from hardware workstations and I always had a motif fantom and a m3 from the big three at the same time, so I'm a workstation junky. It's just sampletank 4 I am interested in. I have omnisphere so not be looking for suggestions of other synths. Good luck with your decision.Okay so before we begin, I have Halion 6. I think if someone pressed me hard, though, I would have to say that I would get Project 5. I still want to get Kontakt at some point. If I didn't have any of them, it would be a tough call. It was very easy for me to learn, very flexable, and powerful. The GUI is laid out beautifully for assessing all the parameters on one screen. By assigning sounds to different channels you can create ensemble set ups and by setting them to the same channel, you can create incredibly complex sounds easily, and save them as a Combination. It gives you 16 slots to assign sounds, set the mid channel, volume, pan, output and effects for each slot. Another very powerful Sampletank feature is the mixer feature. With the addition of products such as Sonik Synth 2 and the upcoming Philharmonik, it becomes the center of a fantastic library of useful sounds. I also like the library aspect of Sampletank. It also allows you to use raise or lower a loop without losing the timeing aspects of the loops. This makes it possible to raise or lower the pitch of a Sample, without the "chimpunk" effects. Stretch allows samples to be raised or lowered in pitch without changing time. It comes with a nice set of sounds, and with the upcoming 2.1 upgrade, will have even more great sounds, and will have improved stretch capabilities. What I love about Sampletank is that it is an excellent librarian type program that is so easy to use. Sampletank as others have pointed out is a Rompler emulation with a lot of great sounds and effects included. Dimension is popular for a reason, the sounds that come with it are excellent and it's layed out nicely. The Synths that come with Project 5 are excellent, and provide the basic tools and sounds to get you going. There are a lot of great editing features that are very useful to me for creating drum and rythm tracks. What I like about P5 is that it handles softsynths so well, and has a lot of great features that make working with softsynths a special pleasure.

I don't have Kontakt yet, but I have P5 and Sampletank. I think it depends a lot on what you are trying do, and they are all great products.
